Model guide · current service distinction
SDXL is a text-to-image model released by Stability AI. This guide explains what its base model does, how to write a useful image prompt, and how that differs from the image tools available on this site today.
Stability AI's SDXL 1.0 base model is a diffusion-based text-to-image model. Its published model card describes a base model that can run on its own and an optional refiner that can add a second processing stage. The model card is the source for technical architecture, intended use, and limitations; this page is not a model endpoint or benchmark.
The commonly cited 1024-pixel square format describes a typical SDXL workflow, not a promise that every SDXL service or setup returns that size. Output quality depends on the prompt, settings, model version, and the subject. Small text, logos, hands, and fine product details should always be checked rather than assumed correct.
Read Stability AI's SDXL model card ↗Start with the subject and its visible context. Then specify composition, light, visual medium, color, and what must remain important. This is more portable than relying on model-specific magic words. A prompt can be adapted for SDXL in a compatible tool or tried in our current generator, but the two systems may interpret it differently.
Example direction
A ceramic cup on a pale oak table, placed in the left third of the frame; soft morning light from a window on the right; warm neutral palette, natural product photography, uncluttered background.
Compare the output with your intent. If the layout drifts, make the placement and negative space more explicit. If you are editing a real product, verify labels, shape, and other details against the source image before publication.

Use our image generator for a new concept, or Image to Image when you have a reference. Neither option should be treated as an SDXL demonstration.
The published SDXL base-model license governs that model and includes use restrictions; it is not a blanket clearance for every output or input. Our site's Terms govern use of this service. In either workflow, check permissions for source images, recognizable people, brands, and material that resembles protected work before commercial publication.
